SDA concedes defeat

The Singapore's Democratic Alliance Party's Desmond Lim has conceded defeat in the Punggol East by-election.
Mr Lim said he ran in the by-election to keep his party's flame flying.
And he would like to thank supporters of Punggol East.
Sources say it's a clear two-horse race, with the People's Action Party candidate, Dr Koh Poh Koon and the Workers' Party Lee Li Lian neck and neck.
They said the SDA candidate, Desmond Lim, and the Reform Party's Kenneth Jeyaretnam, are in danger of losing their deposits of $14,500.
But RP members Andy Zhu and Osman Sulaiman said it was unlikely that Mr Jeyaretnam had condeded defeat at this point.
The PAP's Dr Koh Poh Koon said it's still too early to tell and would let the results speak for themselves.
All four candidates visited the counting centres earlier.
The ballot boxes from the 10 polling centres arrived at two counting centres under heavy security at about 8.30pm, half an hour after voting closed.
The Elections Department deployed 250 personnel to conduct the polls.
The by-election was called less than a month after previous MP Michael Palmer - the former Speaker of the House - resigned following his admission of an extramarital affair.
