SINGAPORE: Senior Parliamentary Secretary for Foreign Affairs and Community Development, Youth and Sports Sam Tan is in Kuwait for the inaugural Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD) Summit on Tuesday.

The ACD, an initiative by Thailand, was established in 2002 and met at the ministerial—level prior to the inaugural ACD Summit.

Mr Tan, who will be in Kuwait until Wednesday, will then be in Germany until Saturday for the second Asia—Europe Meeting (ASEM) Meeting of Governors and Mayors (MGM).

The ASEM MGM, which will be hosted by Governing Mayor of Berlin Mr Klaus Wowereit, was established in 2010 as a forum under the ASEM framework.

It aims to promote dialogue between Asia and Europe to discuss strategies and solutions for city management and to promote cooperation on political, social, and cultural issues.

After Germany, Mr Tan will visit Austria from October 21 to 23, and Slovenia from October 23 to 25.
