SINGAPORE: Overall sales of the services industries rose 2.8 per cent year-on-year in the second quarter of 2014, on the back of strong showings in the Health and Social Services and Financial and Insurance sectors.
According to the latest data by the Department of Statistics released on Wednesday (Aug 27), every sector in the services industry saw their sales spike in the second quarter, except Business Services excluding Real Estate, Rental and Leasing.
Leading the growth was Health and Social Services with a 8.2 per cent on-year spike, due mainly to hospitals registering higher receipts. It was followed by Financial and Insurance at 4.5 per cent and Education at 4.1 per cent.
However, Business Services excluding Real Estate, Rental and Leasing saw a 0.1 per cent on-year dip in the same quarter, the figures showed.
