SINGAPORE: A Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) regular serviceman was found hanging from a rope in an SAF training area in Lentor on Tuesday.
First Warrant Officer (1WO) Rajendran Pachemuthu, 51, was found by two civilian contractors who were maintaining SAF's training equipment.
The contractors reported the incident to Master Warrant Officer (MWO) Ong Chin Sai, a commander from Engineers Training Institute, who proceeded to the site immediately.
He then made a police report at 12:20pm.
The Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) said there was no SAF training conducted in the area on Monday or Tuesday.
Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) and SAF ambulances arrived at the site at about 12:25pm.
Rajendran was unconscious and without pulse, and the SCDF paramedic pronounced him dead on site.
MINDEF and the SAF who have extended their condolences to the family of the serviceman are assisting them in their time of grief.
