MELBOURNE: Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong has arrived in Melbourne for the start of his official visit to Australia.

At a reception with some 200 Singaporeans, mainly students studying in the city, Mr Lee said Singapore is at a turning point in its development.

He said the country is getting more developed, crowded but also filled with vibrancy and buzz.

He added the next 20 years will bring on more changes and even as Singaporeans seek opportunities elsewhere, he urged them to come back home.

"We hope that wherever you may go, you remember that you’re Singaporean and your friends are at home, and your families are at home, and one day, hopefully before too long, you come back to Singapore — either come back to get married or get married and bring somebody home to Singapore," said Mr Lee.
