SINGAPORE: Singapore hopes to explore new opportunities for cooperation with Brunei in areas such as education.

Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong said this in his opinion—editorial ahead of his visit to Brunei.

Mr Lee begins his three—day visit to Brunei on Monday.

Mr Lee wants to enhance the education links between Singapore and Brunei and promote exchanges between youths.

This will lay the basis for strong relations into the next generation.

Mr Lee also paid tribute to the warm bilateral relations, describing the friendship as special.

An important pillar of this partnership is defence cooperation, and Mr Lee thanked Brunei for allowing Singapore soldiers to train in the country for so many years.

Mr Lee said in an uncertain and rapidly changing world, the depth and strength of Singapore—Brunei relations provide a steady anchor for both countries.
