SINGAPORE: Senior Parliamentary Secretary for National Development and Defence, Dr Mohamad Maliki Osman, will visit Vientiane in Laos from Wednesday to Friday.
During his stay, Dr Maliki will attend the 34th Meeting of the ASEAN Ministers on Agriculture and Forestry (AMAF) and the 12th AMAF plus three (People’s Republic of China, State of Japan and Republic of Korea).
Organised by the ASEAN Secretariat, officials at the meetings will discuss the progress of cooperation in food, agriculture, crop, fisheries and forestry issues among ASEAN member countries and the ASEAN+3 countries.
The meetings will enable Singapore to further strengthen cooperation with the region in the areas of food, agriculture and forestry.
Ahead of the meetings, Dr Maliki will officiate at a ribbon—cutting ceremony at the Singapore—Laos Tilapia Hatchery.
Under the Singapore Cooperation Programme, the Agri—food & Veterinary Authority will assist Laos in its capacity building and share its expertise in modern tilapia culture and post—harvest technology with the hatchery’s officers.
Dr Maliki will be accompanied by officials from the Ministry of National Development and the Agri—Food and Veterinary Authority.
