SINGAPORE: The Singapore Media Awards (SMA), organised by the Association of Accredited Advertising Agents Singapore (4As), has attracted 45 per cent more entries this year.

This is the highest number of entries in SMA’s seven—year history.

The SMA presented awards in media categories such as Digital, Search, and Integrated Media on Wednesday evening.

There are 21 categories in total that recognise the best media strategies and execution, including the coveted Grand Prix and Media Agency of the Year.

The SMA recognises innovative media practices and strategies that contribute to an effective advertising campaign.

MediaCorp is the sponsor for three categories — the Best Use of Radio, Best Use of Television and the Grand Prix.

The coveted Grand Prix was presented to OMD Singapore for its entry "I need a snooze" for Ikano.

The "Grand Prix du jury" is the "Best of Show" — an award bestowed by the jury that is selected from the winners of all the 15 award categories. It celebrates an outstanding campaign exceeding clear high standard on all accounts.

MEC Singapore earned bragging rights as the newly crowned Media Agency of the Year 2012 and bagged the most wins, in Best Use of Digital, Best Use of Mobile, Best Use of Search, Best Use of Radio, Best Business to Business, and Best Strategic Launch award categories.

The winners of special achievement awards were also announced.

Marketer of the Year was presented to Sriramagopalan Desikan from HP Imaging & Printing Group.

MediaCom scored a double, with Rahul Vasudev and Prajat Khare winning the Media Person of the Year and Young Media Person of the Year awards, respectively.

Alicia Luke from MediaCorp won The Media Sales Person of the Year award.
