RP's new virtual aerodrome lab

RP's new virtual aerodrome lab

Republic Polytechnic has commissioned a virtual aerodome laboratory as part of efforts to make learning more immersive for students of its Diploma in Aviation Management programme.

Up to 360 students will benefit from the new facility.

The system will allow them to engage in real-time interaction between various types of airport vehicles including planes, fire engines and ground vehicles.

They can also role-play as ground controllers, air traffic controllers and pilots to gain practical skills that they will require on the job.

The simulator has the capability of simulating emergency drills, such as an aircraft collision on the runway.

The virtual aerodrome lab was developed by ST Electronics.

The polytechnic today signed a Cooperation Agreement with the firm which will open up collaboration opportunities, including further development of the VAL and creating internship and industry project opportunities for students.

ST Electronics will also support student learning with activities such as industry talks and training workshops.
