SINGAPORE: A section of Woodlands Road towards Upper Bukit Timah Road appears to have sunk in.
A member of the public, Gavin, told Channel NewsAsia the incident occurred just after 9pm.
The section of road, close to West View Primary School, has been closed off to vehicles.
It is understood there is heavy traffic on that side of the road.
In a statement later, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) said that the incident, which happened at about 8pm Saturday, was caused by a burst water pipe.
That caused a localised depression on the road surface along a short stretch of Woodlands Road towards the city.
To ensure the safety of motorists, both lanes were closed to traffic while works to resurface the road were carried out, said LTA.
It added it will monitor the situation and deploy wardens to guide traffic flow.
