Review Committee to look into doctors' disciplinary proceedings
The Singapore Medical Council, or S-M-C, has appointed a Review Committee to look into the existing legislative and administrative frameworks for disciplinary proceedings involving doctors.
Speaking in Parliament, Health Minister Gan Kim Yong said the move is to optimise and strengthen the processes so that disciplinary matters are dealt with in a just and expeditious manner.
The committee, which comprises senior doctors and lawyers, has already been appointed.
Mr Gan said the review is expected to be completed in about 6 months' time.
He added the Director of Medical Services has also written to all doctors last month to explain and clarify the council's disciplinary processes.
