SINGAPORE: It was a record-setting day for residents from Marine Parade GRC, Mountbatten and Potong Pasir, who came together to celebrate Racial Harmony Month and National Day.

Some 2,000 residents, including new immigrants, gathered at Marina Boulevard late Saturday afternoon for the annual International Cultural Fiesta.

Joining in the fun was Emeritus Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong, who is also the adviser for Marine Parade GRC Grassroots Organisation.

Mr Goh also witnessed the setting of a new record, with the making of the largest blanket patchwork measuring 15 metres by 10 metres.

The project involved some 650 people over three months. - CNA/ir
