SINGAPORE: SPRING Singapore has alerted consumers not to buy Rainbow Loom products from unknown sources, as counterfeit products flood the local market. An advisory posted on its site urges buyers to purchase products from responsible brands and sellers, and to ask sellers if the product has been safety tested.
As the Rainbow Loom craze grows in Singapore, with both adults and children using these kits to weave colourful bracelets, some retail stores are selling weaving kits that have much lower prices. However, cheaper kits that are not the real deal may have sharp edges that can cut, says the distributor of the original Rainbow Loom kits. She said the original products sold here, have proper safety markings.
Said Ms Daphne Ng, Manager of Sophie & Friends: "Right now, we have actually issued lawyer's letters to the retailers that are selling the fake products. So if they continue to selling these fake products, we will consider taking them to court." - CNA/xy
