Punggol East by-election on Jan 26 if, there's contest; Nomination Day is Jan 16

Singapore will hold a by-election in the single-seat constituency of Punggol East on January 26, if there is a contest.

Nomination Day is January 16.

If more than one candidate stand nominated for election at the close of nominations, the Returning Officer will declare January 26 to be the Polling Day.

The president issued the Writ of Election on Wednesday.

Polling Day for the by-election is not a public holiday.

The Returning Officer is Mr Yam Ah Mee, Chief Executive Director of the People's Association.

The Nomination Place is North Vista Secondary School (School Hall Building), in Rivervale Link.

The Punggol East seat was vacated by former Member of Parliament, Mr Michael Palmer, in December 2012 due to an extramarital affair.
