SINGAPORE: A public—spirited resident helped police arrest a 34—year—old suspect for loansharking.

The resident called the police at about 11.55pm on Saturday, saying he had detained a man believed to have splashed paint at one of the flats in a block in Ubi Avenue 1.

Police said early investigations showed that he scrawled loanshark—related graffiti on the wall of the staircase and splashed paint at a flat.

Items such as cans of paint, a marker and a mobile phone were seized.

The suspect is also believed to have been involved in other cases of harassment.

He will be charged in court on Monday with loanshark harassment.
