PUB steps up preparations for the North East monsoon

National water body, PUB, has geared up efforts in drainage maintenance and monitoring.

The aim is to keep the drains flowing and minimise the risks of flash floods during the coming Northeast monsoon.

Inspections at major construction worksites have been stepped up to check for obstructions in the drains.

By the end this year, CCTVs will be installed at 56 new locations to monitor surface drains.

PUB has also started an initiative to replace scupper holes or drain inlets at flood prone areas and hotspots.

The installation is expected to be completed by next September.

Singapore can expect the start of the rainy season in the later part of November.
