Psyched for Pandas

Giant pandas, Kai Kai and Jia Jia, will be making Singapore their home for the next 10 years as they arrive tomorrow via chartered jet before being whisked off to an enclosure in the new River Safari.
Their $8.6 million home at the River Safari in Mandai is a replica of the panda's home in the Sichuan province. The facilities at the enclosure has reportedly exceeded the World Association of Zoos and Aquariums' standards for the pair's comfort.
To keep the temperature of the enclosure at the optimum 18 to 22 degrees Celsius for the giant pandas, Wildlife Reserves Singapore said they will be using an energy-efficient water-chilled cooling system to cut down on the air-conditioning bills. The million-dollar building also features double-cavity concrete walls and double glazed glass ceiling to increase insulation and keep the heat out.
Prior to the pandas' arrival, various companies have started manufacturing panda-related merchandises with the Singapore Post leading the pack. Specially-designed stamps with the pandas' illustrations by actor Edmund Chen will go on sale from September 6 at all post offices and the Singapore Philatelic Museum.
As Singapore prepares for the arrival of the giant panda couple, xinmsn looks at some of the world's most famous pandas as well as some of the funniest panda videos.
