SINGAPORE: The results of the 2012 Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE) will be released on 22 November.
Students may obtain their result slips from their respective schools from noon on that day.
On the same day, eligible students will also receive from their respective primary schools option forms to select secondary schools.
Students are required to hand the option forms to their parents.
The Secondary One posting results will be released on 19 December.
Crest Secondary School, the first of two new Specialised Schools for Normal (Technical) students, will admit its first batch of Secondary 1 students in January 2013.
Apart from offering N(T) English Language, Mother Tongue Language and Mathematics as part of a four—year Normal (Technical) secondary school education, students will be able to specialise in one of four ITE Skills Certificate courses at upper secondary, namely Hospitality Services, Retail Services, Facility Services and Mechanical Servicing.
Apart from the new subject offerings, Crest Secondary School also uses a hands—on approach to teaching.
Students who are successfully admitted into Crest Secondary School will be informed via email or SMS by 14 December and will not be posted to another school under the Secondary 1 Posting Exercise.
Six more schools will be offering the Integrated Programme (IP) from Secondary One in 2013. They are Catholic High School, CHIJ St Nicholas Girls’ School, Methodist Girls’ School, Singapore Chinese Girls’ School, St Joseph’s Institution and Temasek Junior College.
The national examination has been tossed in the spotlight recently amid concerns that it creates excessive pressure for both parents and children.
It is currently being reviewed as part of a broader look into Singapore’s education system.
This includes a re—look at the way the results will be used.
