SINGAPORE: Residents in Pasir Ris can now appreciate local art pieces in the heartland.

Project Community HeART aims to bond residents through interests such as painting.

Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean also joined in the fun.

About 110 paintings will be mounted and displayed at selected HDBs flats for residents to appreciate including those specially drawn by local celebrities like Edmund Chen.

Organisers said this is the first of a series of community art galleries that will be set up.

The North East Community Development Council is funding about S$5,000 for the arts materials.
