Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong visits the National 9/11 Pentagon Memorial in the US
Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong has visited the National 9/11 Pentagon Memorial and also paid his respects to his friend and classmate Lieutenant General Timothy Maude.
In a Facebook post, Mr Lee said Lieutenant General Maude died in the attack on the Pentagon in 2001.
They had attended staff college together at Fort Leavenworth in Kansas in the US, years ago.
Mr Lee, who is currently on a six day visit to the US, said Lieutenant General Maude and the other victims of the attacks will forever be remembered in our united fight against terrorism.
During his visit, Mr Lee will meet with political figures and business leaders in Washington DC and New York.
He will deliver a speech at a reception to mark the10th anniversary of the US-Singapore Free Trade Agreeement, and speak at the Council on Foreign Relations.
Mr Lee, who last visited the US in April 2013, will also launch Temasek Holdings' office in New York.
