BERLIN: German Chancellor Angela Merkel welcomed Singapore’s President Tony Tan’s official visit to Germany as an important signal of the firm friendship and warm relations between the two countries.
The two leaders met at the Federal Chancellery in Berlin on Wednesday, where Mrs Merkel shared with Dr Tan Germany’s perspectives on the Eurozone crisis.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said during a 30—minute meeting, they also discussed prospects for closer cooperation, especially in the field of research and development.
Dr Tan is on the second leg of his official visit to Germany.
Dr Tan had earlier visited Munich, the capital city of Bavaria.
