SINGAPORE: Police have clarified that its commissioner Mr Ng Joo Hee is not acquainted with Ms Esther Goh, who is implicated in the sex—for—favours corruption case of former civil defence force chief, Peter Lim.
A photo of Mr Ng presenting a token of appreciation to Ms Goh has been making its rounds on the Internet.
In a posting on the Singapore Police Force Facebook page, police said the photo was taken at the Police charity concert on 12 October 2011.
The police said Mr Ng deeply regrets that the photograph has been "misused by irresponsible persons online as a basis for making vulgarities, inanities and all manner of mischievous innuendos".
The police added that they hoped the incident would not dampen support for its annual fund raising effort for charity.
Police said NCS was among 67 donors who had supported the Police Charity Drive last year with a S$10,000 donation and Ms Goh had represented her then—employer to receive a token of appreciation from Mr Ng.
Ms Goh, a former director of business development at NCS, allegedly had sex with ex—SCDF commissioner Peter Lim on seven occasions.
