PM Lee meets Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah in Brunei


PM Lee meets Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah in Brunei

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, who is on a three—day visit to Brunei, met Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah at the Istana Nurul Aman on Monday.

Earlier, Mr Lee was received by the Sultan’s son and heir to the throne, Crown Prince Al—Muhtadee Billah, upon his arrival at Bandar Seri Begawan.

Mr Lee is in Brunei to broaden and deepen bilateral cooperation. His visit is at the invitation of Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah.

Both leaders will also commemorate the 45th anniversary of the Currency Interchangeability Agreement, which allows each country’s currency to be used as customary tender in the other country.

Singapore hopes to explore new opportunities for cooperation in areas like education.

Mr Lee said by enhancing education links and promoting exchanges between youths, it will lay the basis for strong relations into the next generation.

On Tuesday, Mr Lee will visit Universiti Brunei Darussalam.
