Personal Data Protection Commission will not condone unreasonable behaviour by organisations: Dr Yaacob Ibrahim
Communications and Information Minister, Dr Yaacob Ibrahim, says the Personal Data Protection Commission will not condone unreasonable behaviour by organisations.
This includes terminating the customers contractual relationship if they do not consent for secondary purposes like marketing in order for a financial institution to provide services.
Speaking in Parliament, Dr Yaacob says the Commission recognises that it may be reasonable for the contractual relationship to cease as it's difficult for an organisation to continue to provide the service if an individual does not provide consent for the use of their personal data.
Dr Yaacob adds that the Commission will look into customers' complaints on contract termination by organisations to assess if those actions were reasonable.
