The Speakers of Parliament from both sides, Michael Palmer and Meira Kumar, launched the initiative today on the sidelines of Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong's official visit to India.

The group is made up 20 MPs from Singapore and 22 from India.

The Singapore side includes opposition, non-constituency and nominated MPs.

The formation of the group was first announced in 2011 during Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's visit to Singapore.
