PAP's Koh pledges to address concerns on childcare & increase support through PCF

The People's Action Party's (PAP's) candidate for Punggol East, Dr Koh Poh Koon, has pledged to address concerns raised by residents, especially working mothers, on childcare support.

He said one plan is to increase the capacity of childcare facilities provided by the PAP Community Foundation (PCF) centres in the ward.

Another way is to build more PCF centres.

He also plans to work with the education ministry to increase after-school care for primary and secondary school students.

Dr Koh outlined the plans he has in mind, as he continued on the campaign trail on Monday.

Asked by reporters for his thoughts on the government's decision to give fathers one week in paternity leave, Dr Koh said it is a step in the right direction.

He described it as a signal - that it's important for fathers to play an active role in their children's lives.

As for his by-election campaign, Dr Koh said residents have been warm to him and added that he'll continue to reach out to every resident in the ward.
