SINGAPORE: Caretaker MP for Punggol East Teo Ser Luck said the People’s Action Party must be ready if a by—election is called.
He was commenting on recent reports of party activists in the ward buying plywood for election posters which he declined to confirm.
"As a political party, we must always be ready if an election is called. Whether we bought the plywood or didn’t buy the plywood, or we have gotten any other type of item or equipment, I think it’s just about getting ready at all times, apart from the things we’re doing today, which is really serving and helping the residents," he said.
Mr Teo was speaking to reporters before his first Meet—the—People Session in Punggol East. He said residents’ response to him so far have been encouraging with some even asking him to stand for election in the ward.
But he said juggling two wards makes a tight challenge for time.
Mr Teo was also seen introducing a new face, Dr Koh Poh Koon, to residents. When asked, he said Dr Koh is a personal friend who’s helping him out with the Meet—the—People’s sessions.
