Singapore may have said no to nuclear energy for now, but an expert panel says the country should still prioritise nuclear safety research.
The panel, which advises the government on energy matters, says developing a strong safety culture and know-how is vital in preparing for regional nuclear energy developments.
This in turn, will help the country contribute actively to international discussions and cooperation on nuclear safety.
The panel adds that Singapore should continue to advance its use of solar and waste-to-energy sources.
