SINGAPORE: More than 8,500 visitors were at the Istana Open House on Saturday, which was held as part of the Deepavali celebrations.
The visitors were treated to musical performances by groups from the People's Association and various schools.
They enjoyed family-oriented activities such as exhibitions, including one by the Jurong Bird Park.
Many also met President Tony Tan Keng Yam and his wife, Mrs Mary Tan.
Visitors also had the opportunity to go on guided tours of the Istana main building led by volunteers from the Preservation of Monuments Board, as well as tour selected function rooms. - CNA/nd
