Orchard Rd Business Association wins global merit award

SINGAPORE: Singapore’s Orchard Road Business Association has won a global merit award for its work in Christmas on "A Great Street 2011".

The annual festive light—up in the Orchard Road shopping belt was among 15 qualified entries in the category of events and programming recognised by the Washington DC—based International Downtown Association.

Submitted projects and initiatives in this category came from organisations working to promote their city centres through events that improved the image and vitality of the downtown areas, as well as attracted visitors.

The submissions also had to communicate the vision, mission, function and achievements of the downtown or business district association.
