SINGAPORE: Participants at the WE Run 2013 on Sunday morning were in for a pleasant surprise -- flagging off the 10-kilometre race, and throwing the occasional high-five, was four-time Olympic gold medallist Allyson Felix.
Felix, who won the 200 metres gold medal in the 2012 London Olympics is in Singapore on a two-day visit. The 27-year-old American also won gold for her country in the women's 4x100 metres and 4x400 metres relay.
She also spent some time talking to local athletes, sharing her experience.
She said: "I was impressed today at the race, you know, just to see everyone, and there were some quick times. But just effort you know, everyone is just excited. That might not be at the top level but there's so much effort out there. To me that was really inspiring, even to myself." - CNA/ac
