NUS to investigate scholar who posted obscene material on blog

The National University of Singapore says the student who posted obscene content online has been served a notice of a Board of Discipline inquiry and the Board will look into the matter and take appropriate disciplinary actions.

NUS says the student concerned - Alvin Tan Jye Yee, is with the NUS Faculty of Law and is on an ASEAN Undergraduate Scholarship.

Mr Tan had posted sexually-explicit videos and pictures of himself and his girlfriend on his blog, which has since been deactivated.

But the videos and images have been copied and circulated elsewhere.

NUS says Tan is currently on Leave of Absence and is not receiving scholarship funds.

He's also been advised to take down the offensive posts.

NUS says its does not condone the posting of offensive content online by any member of the NUS community.

Any student found in breach of the University's Code of Student Conduct will be disciplined.
