Nursing home to go ahead in Bishan
The Ministry of Health will proceed with building a nursing home, the Lions Home for the Elders, at Bishan Street thirteen.
Residents were informed through a letter from the Chairman of the Bishan East Citizens Consultative Committee, Mr Chua Thian Poh.
This comes after a dialogue with Bishan East residents on the 27th of May where some residents suggested alternative sites for the nursing home during the dialogue.
In a separate letter to Mr Wong Kan Seng, Advisor to Bishan Grassroots Organisations, MOH explained that these alternative sites have already been earmarked for other uses.
MOH had consulted other planning agencies, including the Housing and Development Board and the Urban Redevelopment Authority, on this.
To address other feedback, MOH has also agreed to cap the building at six storeys so that residents' view will not be blocked.
