NTUC raised over $1.4 million at its first fundraiser this year
The Labour Movement has kick-started its fundraising drive by raising more than $1.4 million to help low-income union members and families.
The money was raised at a charity golf event organised by the NTUC-U Care Fund today.
Director of the Care and Share department at NTUC, Zainal Sapari, says the U Care Fund had disbursed close to $60 million to help low income union members and their families since it started in 2009.
Close to $9 million was also disbursed through the various U Care assistance programmes last year.
Some of the assistance programmes include discount vouchers for groceries, funding support for bursaries and scholarships and family recreation packages.
