SINGAPORE: More than 500 Operationally Ready National Servicemen from 450 companies and their employers have reaffirmed their commitment to Singapore’s defence.
This took place during the Singapore Armed Forces Day Combined Rededication Ceremony on Monday.
Minister of State for Defence and Education Lawrence Wong who officiated the event, spoke of the importance of a strong and capable SAF.
He commended families, friends and employers for their support.
Separately, Mr Wong also awarded the "Distinguished Defence Partner Award" and "Meritorious Defence Partner Award" to employers and civil resource owners to thank them for their support towards Total Defence.
This year, 514 organisations will be honoured for their support of Total Defence.
This is more than double the number of recipients five years ago.
The "Minister for Defence Award", the highest accolade conferred on organisations that have shown exemplary support for Total Defence, will be presented during the NS45 Commemoration Dinner to be held in October this year.
