SINGAPORE: The North West Community Development Council has launched a campaign on Facebook that would see 10kg of rice donated for every act of kindness posted on its Facebook Page.
Posts can detail an act of kindness witnessed or a good deed accomplished by the poster.
Minister for National Development Khaw Boon Wan launched the campaign with North West District Mayor Dr Teo Ho Pin on Wednesday at a community event.
"I think it’s important to share acts of kindness because it will help to encourage others to do more kind acts," said Dr Teo.
More than 500 posts have been made on the Facebook page so far
The CDC has set a target of 2,700 postings which would translate into 27,000 kg of rice, enabling them to provide 10 kg of rice for each rental unit in the district.
The rice would be donated by its corporate partner Tong Seng Produce.
The campaign will end on 7 January 2013.
