No 'hard target' deadline for fare review report: Lui Tuck Yew
Transport Minister Lui Tuck Yew says will not put a "hard target" date for the Fare Review Mechanism Committee to submit their recommendations on the formula and framework for public transport fare adjustments.
Speaking to reporters today (02/09), he said it's more important that they do a thorough job and have a very strong basis for the recommendations they make.
He was speaking at a Jurong West Street 75 bus stop this morning after inspecting the launch of City Direct 651.
It's the first of 10 such services to be rolled out under the Bus Service Enhancement Programme launched a year ago.
Mr Lui said he was "pleased" with the committee's work so far in polling residents and commuters, and analysing the efficiency of the current fare adjustment formula.
He added that the committee also needs to understand how to prioritise its recommendations.
The 13-member Committee was appointed by the government in June last year to review the formula and framework for public transport fare adjustments.
