SINGAPORE: The National Heritage Board (NHB) has appointed Ms Angelita Teo as the director of the National Museum of Singapore.
She takes over from current director, Lee Chor Lin.
Mr Tan Boon Hui, the current director of the Singapore Art Museum (SAM) will take on a new appointment as group director/programmes at the board.
Both appointments take effect in July.
NHB said the changes are part of leadership renewal for the board.
Ms Teo was previously the deputy director of National Museum.
NHB said the Singapore HeritageFest under her charge generated significant visitorship numbers and attracted much involvement from partners around the island.
It added since 2009, Mr Tan has been leading the development of SAM's contemporary art tract making it one of the most sought after contemporary art museums in the region.
NHB said Mr Tan's newly-created role will tap on his expertise in programming and curation.
It added that a search for a new director for the Singapore Art Museum will commence immediately. - CNA/ck
