New Workforce Skills Qualification Diploma in Food and Beverage launched

Frontline service professionals will soon be able to learn the tricks of the trade from industry experts in the food and beverage industry.

The new Singapore Workforce Skills Qualification (WSQ) Diploma in Food and Beverage (F&B) Service will incorporate a mentorship programme.

Launched by the Singapore Workforce Development Agency (WDA), the programme will be offered by At-Sunrice GlobalChef Academy (At-Sunrice).

Trainees will get to engage in hands-on training in a "real life working environment". Some skills that they will learn include customer service, hygiene procedures and restaurant design concepts.

The Academy will begin its first intake on 21 August and is expected to train some 100 aspiring F&B professionals, including service staff, restaurant supervisors and banquet coordinators over the next 3 years.

All Singaporeans and Singapore permanent residents who are eligible for the WSQ Diploma Programmes will enjoy 70 per cent WDA programme fee funding.

Chief Executive, WDA Wong Hong Kuan, said, "Frontline service professionals are an important component of the eco-system as Singapore continues to propel its growth as a buoyant F&B hub. This programme reinforces WDA's commitment to groom a ready pool of F&B professionals primed for global careers in fine dining and F&B Services."
