New online chat service to help distressed children
Primary school children who need someone to talk to can now find comfort in an online chat service.
Launched today by the Singapore Children's Society, Tinkle Friend Online Chat is a free service run by trained staff and volunteers.
Since its soft launch in December 2013, Tinkle Friend Online Chat has provided support to 222 children who said they were lonely and in distress.
This service is a web extension of the Tinkle Friend Helpline, which was launched in 1984 as a national toll-free line.
Tinkle Friend online chatwww.tinklefriend.com is available from Monday to Friday, from 2.30pm to 5.30pm.
The service is not available on weekends and public holidays.
