SINGAPORE: A two—day event to raise awareness of the anti—drug cause will kickstart this year’s Anti—Drug Abuse Campaign.
This year’s campaign targets youth and young adults with the tagline — ’Life Does Not Rewind. Make The Right Choice’.
The National Council Against Drug Abuse (NCADA) and Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) are working with students from Singapore Polytechnic on a series of anti—drug activities for the event.
Both organisations also worked with eight schools to build Singapore’s largest mosaic made of more than 20,000 phone wipes.
A first for this year’s campaign — which runs from July to September — will be the "Drug Buster Academy", which is a new anti—drug mobile exhibition bus.
Minister of State for Home Affairs and Foreign Affairs, Masagos Zulkifli, said that it is important to spread the anti—drug message among youth through their peers.
"Right now we see a worrying trend already. That our youth are beginning to experiment with drugs or they begin to have a belief or attitude that some kind of drugs are okay or some use of drugs in particular events, like party, are okay.
"And therefore we would like to take the initiative to ensure that we can send this message without being in their face, do things in a way that youths are happy to be participating in."
