NDP celebrations will extend beyond parade and enter social media sphere

NDP celebrations will extend beyond parade and enter social media sphere

Carnivals, music performances, dances and even fashion markets are some of the festivities you can take part in leading up to National Day.

The birthday festivities will take place within Marina Bay waterfront and Orchard Road.

The organisers hope more than 100,000 Singaporeans will be able to join in the celebrations.

And for the first time this year, the NDP committee hopes to reach to Singaporeans living abroad through its e-Pledge and e-Flag initiatives.

They can download graphics featuring the pledge from the NDP Facebook Page and re-post it on their own Facebook page.

An image of the flag will also be available for Singaporeans to post as a picture badge, on top of their profile picture.

Lieutenant-Colonel Ng Sin Ain, Chairman of the NDP Branding and Publicity Committee tells us more.

"It could be a way to break the geographical and the timezone boundary, a lot of Singaporeans, whether they are working or whether they are studying there, they can express the love and the commitment of the nation without the constraint of having to do it physically. So for Singaporeans now, if you're overseas, one of the ways to stay connected is via the social media."
