Even after his retirement from politics in 2011, former Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew continues to touch lives today

And the 41-year-old is not stopping at picture books on Mr Lee. He hopes to one day release more picture books on other influential political and historical figures in Singapore, and is also currently working on another dream of his: a 2D/3D animation film adaptation of Growing Up with Lee Kuan Yew.

When he first mentioned this idea to Mr Lee during their meeting, the latter laughed heartily before replying: “I will not stop you.”

Koh has already approached MediaCorp, film producer Daniel Yun and the Media Development Authority with his idea, and hopes to be able to get the animation film done in time for next year’s SG50.

Why an animation film?

Lawrence explained, “I like animation, and I have a Master of Fine Arts in Animation from [the] Savannah College of Art and Design.”

“I hope to reach out to those who love animation films, [and enable them] to know [more] about our founding father,” he added.
