National Day declares "special event" under Public Order Act
The National Day Parade on the 9th of August has been declared as a 'Special Event' under the Public Order Act.
And the Marina Bay and its surrounding areas have been designated as a 'Special Event Site' under the Act.
The gazette on the Special Event Site will take effect on the 9th of August.
The reserve date for the parade will be on Sunday, the 10th of August and the gazette will take effect if it is held on the day.
Police say security checks on persons and belongings may be conducted by its officers within the Special Event Site.
Those found engaging in activities which compromise security within the Special Event Site may be removed and dealt with accordingly under the law.
