SINGAPORE: The Maritime Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) has decommissioned Singapore’s first Port Operations Control Centre.
MPA said the centre has helped to develop Singapore into the global port it is today.
Speaking at an event to mark the occasion, MPA said the centre contributed significantly in the last 28 years by ensuring safety in the Singapore Strait and Singapore port waters.
Located in Tanjong Pagar, the control centre has also helped to manage growing vessel traffic, tracking up to 5,000 vessels.
MPA said there are two new control centres at PSA Vista and Changi Naval Base, which are capable of tracking up to 10,000 vessels.
