SINGAPORE: Nine in 10 Singaporean employees believe that there should be a gender balance in workplace leadership teams.

But 54 per cent feel there are not enough women in leadership positions in their workplace.

This is according to a Randstad Workmonitor Report for the first quarter of 2013, which surveyed over 14,780 employees from 32 countries. 405 Singaporean employees were surveyed.

The survey findings show that employees in other developed countries such as the United Kingdom, Australia and Canada are more positive about their company’s attitudes towards promoting women into leadership roles.

Three in five 59 per cent of Singaporean employees agreed that the proposal of a quota forcing companies to promote more women into leadership positions would work as a lever to get more women into these roles.

The survey also found that 43 per cent of Singaporean employees believe women make less money than men in similar roles.
