MOM looking into Hri Kumar's resident's CPF difficulties
Member of Parliament for Bishan-Toa Payoh GPC Hri Kumar says the Manpower Ministry is looking into the issues a 76 year old woman in his ward has with her CPF funds.
This is after Ms Renee Yap shared her problems at a recent forum on the CPF chaired by Mr Hri Kumar.
In a comment on his Facebook page, the MP says he's confident the matter can be clarified and resolved.
On a related issue, Mr Hri Kumar rejected comments posted online that Ms Yap had been manhandled and was disallowed to speak at the forum.
Referring to video of Ms Yap speaking which has gone viral, Mr Hru Kumar says people can watch the video and judge for themselves.
He say Ms Yap was allowed to go on, even though she spoke at length about issues unrelated to the CPF.
In response to online criticism about his revelation that Ms Yap lived in a landed property, Mr Hri Kumar says he only mentioned it because the media had asked where she lived.
Without giving details, he had confirmed she is a Thomson resident living in "one of the landed estates."
He added that his remark was not meant to suggest that Ms Yap was not deserving of help.
At the CPF forum, Ms Yap had asked for the money in her retirement account to be returned because she was born in the year 1938.
She said she should not be included in the CPF Life scheme which concerns those born in 1958 and after.
