MND is studying ways to help vulnerable families
The National Development Ministry is studying ways to help divorcees with children and support rental tenants own their homes.
This was revealed by National Development Minister, Khaw Boon Wan during his ministry's Committee of Supply debate.
"Now that we have cleared the backlog for newlyweds, we have begun to focus on helping the vulnerable groups, especially divorcees with children."
One suggestion made by Nee Soon GRC MP, Lee Bee Wah, includes removing all forms of waiting periods for divorcees with children.
To support rental tenants to own a house - Marine Parade GRC MP, Seah Kian Peng, suggests seeking the local Community Developement Council's inputs when evaluating an applicant's housing needs.
Mr Khaw says his ministry will study these suggestions.
In the meantime, he pledged that his ministry will continue to exercise flexibility and compassion whenever cases involving vulnerable groups are brought to its attention.
