Minister Shanmugam assures that the government has to and will deliver high quality of life

Law and Foreign Affairs Minister K Shanmugam says the range of views which has been expressed about the projections set out in the White Paper on Population is completely understandable.

Mr Shanmugam was speaking to reporters at a hong bao or red packet presentation ceremony at his Chong Pang Division.

He said businesses are unhappy about the lack of growth in the labour force, but there are also those who are concerned about the 6.9 million figure.

Thus, the government has to address two points.

First, he said the government has to and will solve the current infrastructure problems.

Second, he said for long-term planning, whatever the size of the population, the infrastructure must be adequate and deliver high quality of life.
