SINGAPORE: Foreign Affairs and Law Minister K Shanmugam will visit Qatar and Iran from February 23-27 as part of a regional tour.
In Qatar, he will be hosted by the country's Foreign Affairs Minister Dr Khalid Bin Mohammed Al Attiyah.
He will also call on the Emir, Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani, as well as Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah Bin Nasser Bin Khalifa Al Thani.
This will be Mr Shanmugam's introductory visit to Qatar as foreign minister.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the visit is also part of Singapore's efforts to strengthen relations with members of the Gulf Cooperation Council.
Mr Shanmugam will then visit Iran at the invitation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohammad Javad Zarif.
He will call on President Hassan Rouhani and other Iranian leaders in Tehran.
Mr Shanmugam will also visit Isfahan where he is scheduled to meet local leaders.
He will be accompanied by senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. - CNA/gn
